Pravda means "Truth" in Russian and was the name of one of the two leading state run Soviet newspapers - the other was Izvestia (Russian for "News"). These filtered media outlets led to the saying:

"There is no Pravda in Izvestia, and there is no Izvestia in Pravda" or in English "There is no truth in News, and there is no news in Truth."

Pravda was published from 1912-1991.   After the fall of the Soviet Union, the newspaper changed to a tabloid style format.

We're not politically affiliated, ourselves, but we do serve more than 50 vodkas. Our name serves more to point out how subjective history and time can be.
